Surface Pretreatment

The treatment of surfaces for influencing the adhesion of glues, coatings or printing media by means of combustion is a method established for years in numerous industrial fields. A further significant improvement of the adhesion can be achieved by deposition of a reactive silicate layer, produced by flame pyrolysis. Through combustion of a silane additive component in a combustion-gas atmosphere, are produced very dense and adhering silicate layers with high surface energy to materials, such as  metals, glass, ceramics and plastics.

The surface pretreatment ensures the generation of a high-energy silicate layer (layer thickness max. 100 nm) on the  material surfaces via flame pyrolysis (surface silicate coating), the application of an adhesion promoter, suited to the adhesive, the coating or to the printed medium, as also the Improvement of the wettability of the surface.

In combination to adhesion promoters with the corresponding functionality, the layers ensure the basis for long-term-, water- and solvent-stable adhesions, coatings and prints. Further applications of this technology are the temporary corrosion protection as well as the production of diffusion barrier layers.
